“Ambassadors are an important part of our holistic approach to safety and security. In addition to being a proactive presence, they provide personal safety escorts and make requests for medical and police assistance on behalf of our community members every day.”

Safe Walk for Students
Ask an Ambassador to walk you home. Trained and screened through background checks, Ambassadors provided approximately 1,700 walking escorts last semester. They are stationed in areas around the Corner, including at 14th and Wertland. If you would like to request a walking escort, drop in or call the Public Safety Substation on Unversity Ave at 434-984-7622, extension 406.

A Look Inside the Ambassador Program at UVA
In an effort to enhance safety options for the University community, the University of Virginia Police Department implemented a public safety ambassador program (Ambassador Program) in an area of the City of Charlottesville that is adjacent to Grounds that contains student housing and transitions into areas occupied predominantly by city residents.
